Do you know the struggle it takes to become a butterfly? From worm to chrysalis to butterfly is only a matter of weeks, but within that process is a critical moment for a would-be butterfly. The monarch butterfly is a very resilient creature. The only way a monarch can gain strength to fly, is from its struggle. It must struggle in order break free from its tiny, outgrown environment.

Any outside help to break free from its chrysalis, would cause the monarch to fall to the earth and die. It needs the ability to strengthen its wings in order to fly to a place it has never been. Monarchs are the only insects that migrate north and south like a bird, flying to a place they have no roadmap for. After emergence, the monarch will literally inflate its wings by using the fluid from its swollen body. You may think that is disgusting, but what I've learned from such a small creature is: "The struggle is necessary, for without it, you die. Everything you need is IN you." Are you willing to struggle for the opportunity to fly one day?

Remember one thing today, "It's in you...". This is the pulse of The Monarch Message weekly newsletter. Many of us are the emerging butterfly who do not understand why the struggles are necessary, but I encourage you to continue to push your way out of your chrysalis and strengthen your wings in preparation for the journey that beholds us...Life.
