Mathematics consists of many symbols and operators. It is an abbreviated form of the spoken language. In the text-based language structure, the bracket can be replaced by comma if necessary. Mistake is therefore common at this stage of group opening where sign of the grouping is not taken care of. The end result of the computation will be wrong as a consequence due to wrong sign taken.
Example: 6 - (2 + 4) will give an answer of 6 - 6 = 0 if computed correctly. If wrongly done without care for sign in front of the first bracket, the computation will be 6 - 2 + 4 which gives a result of 8!
How therefore can we resolve this type of error? The answer is simply to practice, practice and practice (of course with understanding). This will instill in the person the habit to correctly remove the mathematical operator "bracket" without fault. Though the mathematical operator seems simple, it serves importance to the process of calculation and has to be taken care of.
